The Mumford-Shah digital filter pair (MS-DFP) and applications
نویسنده
چکیده
We present a novel coupled £lter pair for denoising, segmentation, and inpainting, based on the well known MumfordShah image model. Our self-contained digital extension to a general graph domain makes it possible to cheaply and universally bene£t from this conventionally expensive yet very powerful image model.

Color Image Restoration Using Nonlocal Mumford-Shah Regularizers
We introduce several color image restoration algorithms based on the Mumford-Shah model and nonlocal image information. The standard Ambrosio-Tortorelli and Shah models are defined to work in a small local neighborhood, which are sufficient to denoise smooth regions with sharp boundaries. However, textures are not local in nature and require semi-local/non-local information to be denoised effic...

Image Segmentation and Its Applications Based on the Mumford-Shah Model Xiaojun Du, Ph.D. Concordia University, 2011 Image segmentation is an important topic in computer vision and image processing. As a region-based (global) approach, the Mumford and Shah (MS) model is a powerful and robust segmentation technique as compared to edge-based (local) methods. In this thesis we apply the MS model t...
متن کاملLow latency IIR digital filter design by using metaheuristic optimization algorithms
Filters are particularly important class of LTI systems. Digital filters have great impact on modern signal processing due to their programmability, reusability, and capacity to reduce noise to a satisfactory level. From the past few decades, IIR digital filter design is an important research field. Design of an IIR digital filter with desired specifications leads to a no convex optimization pr...
متن کاملCurve Evolution, Boundary-Value Stochastic Processes, the Mumford-Shah Problem, and Missing Data Applications
We present an estimation-theoretic approach to curve evolution for the Mumford-Shah problem. By viewing an active contour as the set of discontinuities in the Mumford-Shah problem, we may use the corresponding functional to determine gradient descent evolution equations to deform the active contour. In each gradient descent step, we solve a corresponding optimal estimation problem, connecting t...
متن کاملIdentification of Nerves in Ultrasound Scans Using a Modified Mumford-Shah Functional and Prior Information
Ultrasound scans have many important clinical applications in medical imaging. One of clinical applications is to find nerves. One of the skills necessary to conduct ultrasound guided nerve blocks is the ability to recognize the nerves, vessels, muscles and bones in sagittal and axial cross sections. In fit healthy patients, these structures are reasonably easy to recognize but in obese patient...
